Member Forum Feedback
Please find below key outcomes from our recent Member Forums - thank you for everyone who attended. If you were unable to do so, but would still like the opportunity to raise questions with Rosie, Juliette & Nick, please email manager@basset-down.com with your availability and we will get something booked in with you.
KEY OUTCOMES:
- Winter 2024/2025
- Discussed the possibility of introducing winter tees/ matts during periods of wet weather
- Would appear more members are in support of this idea than before if it helps protect the course
- Greenkeepers are looking into options for this year
- Please could we remind all golfers about repairing pitch marks & divots?
- Tee pots - now out on the course based on feedback. Trialling for May and will monitor use - if successful, we will look into more permanent alternatives
- Could we have soil boxes on tee boxes - unfortunately this often leads to germination within the box due to lids being left open & water getting in
- Suggested we could ask members to 'adopt a green' and every time they play, to repair any damage in that area - looking into this as an option
- Signs on reception desk reminding players
- Paths on the course - could we have more for next winter?
- Looking into expanding paths on 1st, 3rd & 4th making access to/from tees easier and causing less damage
- What can be done to improve the condition of the bunkers?
- Have now been scraped, edged and will all be filled soon (had to wait until it was dry enough to get out on the course with machinery)
- Can we offer a flexible membership?
- We are exploring different membership options for when we become 18 holes, including flexible, social and corporate memberships
- Could we look into more 'snacky' food options in the restaurant?
- We are looking into different options for Summer 2024
- Can we alternate tee markers more to prevent damage?
- Yes - struggled for man power over the winter months but will be done more regularly over Spring/Summer months
- Plea from greenkeepers for golfers not to move these, sadly happens on a a regular basis
- Pace of play for peak times of the week - what can be done to assist this?
- Course marshals will be in place for most competition days to ensure tee sheet is flowing smoothly
- CCTV camera on 1st tee accessible by staff members on reception
- Plea to members to call reception and let advise if there's an obvious cause for slow play so we can come out to assist - sooner the better for these calls
- Also exploring with IG whether it's possible to make 18 hole rounds automatically bookable for 2 hours and 7 minutes, rather than 2 hours on tee sheet
- Could we have another series of Member Forums in the Autumn
- Yes absolutely, we will be looking at dates for this towards the end of the summer
