Want To Improve The Value Of Your Shots This Summer? - 31/07/2014

Tips to Improve Your Golf This Summer - The 'Bump & Run' Shot.

In the height of summer your short game can become quite a tricky proposition, mainly due to bouncy greens and hard fairways. So, how can you judge the shot that you want to play?

A lot of golfers tend to only play bump and run shots in the winter months, but they also have a big part to play in summer golf. For those of you who are not familiar with the term, a bump and run is a shot played along the ground instead of in the air.

When you get a tight lie on the fairway, as well as no obstacle to clear, then this is a shot that has real value. This is mainly due to the fact that the bounce of the ball is less, and therefore it takes less skill to try to judge. As long as you can learn to work out your landing area (which is important in working out how far your shot will travel), then a bump and run becomes a valuable shot in your armoury.

So, get out onto our practice green or come in to see our professional coaches Michael or Ian, and book a lesson on how to perfect this very effective shot.
