18-Holes Update - 24/08/2016

After years of importing material, and months of planning and shaping, we have been able to complete the seeding of four of our new holes.

Getting to this stage in our extension has required months of profiling, landscaping, ground leveling, drainage and stone picking; but thanks to a welcome spell of good weather, our team has managed to seed according to schedule. We can even see some of blades of grass starting to emerge in places!

Spreading across 40 acres, these new holes will include over 11 bunkers, one quarter of an acre lake and a substantial water feature on the first hole. They will also feature 20 acres of wild flowers, seven newt houses and four reed beds, all ensuring the local eco-systems can continue to thrive under new circumstances. Provided that the winter is kind, we are hoping these holes will be ready to play by next summer.

Alongside these works, we have also been extending the driving range since the end of July from 200 yards to 275 yards. If you use our range regularly, you will know we’ve reluctantly had to enforce a restriction on clubs, which is simply to help preserve the erected nets as much as possible. Not only do these nets protect the workman on the other side from being hit, they also prevent any balls from going into the new outfield- once there, we can never get them back.

Not only is our outfield now significantly longer, it has also been reprofiled allowing a full line of visibility when practicing. Again, weather permitting, we are aiming to have the nets down on the range by the end of September/early October.  We do apologize for any inconvenience caused during this time, but rest assured, once completed our range will be one of the best in the county.

We are conscious many of you are eager to see all of the work that’s been going on ‘behind the scenes’, especially as it’s impossible to view from our clubhouse. Once the grass on the new holes has established, we will be in a position to give tours to members and visitors. If you have any questions about our current developments in the meantime, please do feel free to speak to Ian or Juliette directly either on 07789 900203 or email nutland@btconnect.com.
