The next 9 holes – an update! - 28/05/2015

We’re excited to announce that alongside the successful launch of our new summer ventures this week, we have also seen some fantastic progress with the development of the next 9 holes of the golf course.

As many of you know, we have been working very closely with Earthline Ltd since 2013, and they have played a major role in the building and landscaping of these new holes- we wouldn’t be where we are today, without them!

Although we have experienced a few setbacks along the way, thanks mainly to the constant challenge of the British weather; the majority of material has now arrived and the shaping of the first four fairways and greens has officially begun!

A small army of monster machines (including two 30 tonne bell-dumper trucks, a 35 and 20 tonne excavator and a 14 tonne excavator with a shaping bucket) are currently all on site, and under the instruction of Darren ‘The Shaper’ have been all guns blazing!

In just under a fortnight, the new 8th fairway and 2nd green have now been shaped, with the 1st and 9th holes next on the agenda.

We can appreciate that it must be quite hard to see what’s going on behind the scenes from a bay on the driving range or when walking to and from the car park, only being able to catch a glimpse of a machine roof now and again. We thought it might be useful to film some of the shaping in action, so that you can see the developments taking place for yourselves.

These short video clips show some of the action over the last week.

Once all of the imported material has been shaped, we can start to install the all-important drainage and irrigation systems, topsoil and finally seed these 4 holes this autumn. All of this, of course, does rely completely on the weather behaving this

After that we will have to watch and wait for them to grow and grow and grow. Fingers crossed for a kind winter!
