Course & Spring Cup Update - 27/04/2017

Course & Spring Cup Update

The deep scarification work carried out earlier this week (24th & 25th April) went extremely well, leaving the greens very smooth and fast. The greens were scarified to a depth of 18mm the first day, and then 15mm on the second day. 20 tonnes of kiln dried sand was injected into the grooves over the two days, along with 80kg of grass seed.

We would like to thank our willing band of helpers with this operation, including some of our members, John Richards, David Kee and Tony Lewis.

Unfortunately due to the criss cross pattern, a side effect of this operation, is that the edges of the holes have become slightly unstable. This will continue for a few days until the turf knits itself back together. Your help and care around the holes and retrieving your ball from the cup in the coming days will be much appreciated.

Although the greens are playing well enough to hold the Spring Cup this weekend, we feel that the integrity of the hole cannot be guaranteed enough to hold a competition of this standing. It will now be held alongside the May Medal on 7th May.
