After two successful years working together, it is with regret that from 20^th October 2019, Swindon Premier Golf Academy will no longer be providing coaching services at Basset Down GC. With only two coaches available throughout the week, conflicting diaries unfortunately means working across two sites (Basset Down and Broome Manor) is no longer viable for either party. We wish each other the best of success moving forward.

We appreciate those children who have lessons with SPGA will still have a few more weeks coaching programmed until 19^th October, these will continue as normal. After the half term, we’re pleased to announce that Ian Bolt, who has been coaching at Basset Down for 10 years, will be taking over the junior lessons.

Many of you may have seen that Ian has recently celebrated his 50^th year of being a PGA Golf Professional, which is a significant achievement by anyone’s standards. Ian already teaches many of our junior members and is looking forward to helping us take the section to the next level. As part of their development as golfers, Ian is keen to get the juniors out on the course practicing as much as possible and will be trying to balance fun & games with helping the children progress their game on a more technical front. Our Junior Organisers, Mike Clarke & Ben Melluish, have also offered to volunteer during some of these classes. They would like to reassure you that the Junior Section at the club with its busy mix of competitions and golf events will continue as normal, as these were never linked to SPGA and their Academy.

We hope by now you’ve seen details of our Junior Presentation Evening on Friday 18^th October on Spond. This will be a great night to celebrate the Junior successes of the past season, plus a great opportunity to meet Ian personally if you have not already don’t so. We do hope you can all make it.

Junior Classes from Saturday 2^nd November will proceed as follows.  Please note there is no joining fee to be paid to be part of the Junior coaching at Basset Down, and no payments outside of term times.  If your child would like to become a member of the golf course too, please do talk to Rosie about the different packages we have available.

As you can see from the table below, Ian will be running an Assessment Morning on Saturday 2^nd November which is open to all juniors. This session is FOC and will take place between 10:00 – 11:30. It would be great if you could join us at some point between these times so Ian can meet the children and look at their game. This will be a fun session with no pressure, and Mike & Ben will also be there on the day to help Ian with some golfing games.

If you’d like to continue your child’s coaching with Ian here at Basset Down, which we really hope you will, payments can either be paid on the 2^nd November, or alternatively on the first day of coaching (9^th November).
